"The thought of contesting the APC presidential primary was never in Ahmed Lawan's plans till he was approached by a bloc in the APC as part of a well orchestrated strategy. Like others, Lawan was to be used as a potential concession to their own advantage during negotiations, should the party agree on consensus to clear the way for oga patapata.
But Atiku's emergence as the presidential candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, left the ruling party at a crossroads. At this time, the party must choose between winning the election either by picking a northern candidate or zoning its ticket to the South were its victory wasn't guaranteed.
Now, a crucial decision must be made which would have far-reaching consequences for them. This was where Ahmed Lawan rebellious germinated. Lawan, just like the man whom his group planted to temporary fill the vacuum, went rogue, joined some forces in the north to frustrate the idea of zoning so he could emerge the party's flag bearer.

The primaries are over, Ahmed Lawan is back to the trenches. But Bashir Machina has also gone rogue, insisting that he will not step down for someone who did not participate in a primary election. Who in his position would possibly do otherwise when he knows that the law backs him 100%?
Lawan has been abandoned by those forces from the south and north who wanted to use him for their selfish gains. He was half clever but stinkingly greedy.
